Itinerary

July 3: Home pick-up from the Comox Valley; flights to Newfoundland; Arrive at Deer Lake and transfer to

hotel in Corner Brook. Overnight in Corner Brook.

July 4: Free day to explore Corner Brook; evening get-together with fellow travelers.

July 5: Travel the Viking Trail to Gros Morne National Park; visit the National Historic Park at Port au Choix,

which interprets the lifestyle of the Maritime Archaic people who lived here over 3000 years ago.

Overnight in Plum Point. (Breakfast, Midday Meal and Welcome Dinner)

July 6: Travel the coastline to St Anthony to visit the home of medical missionary, Sir Wilfred Grenfell; and

visit the UNESCO World Heritage site at L’Anse aux Meadows, home of the Viking people who settled the

area. Overnight in Plum Point (Breakfast & Midday Meal)

July 7: Travel across the Straits of Belle Isle to Labrador. Visit a Basque Whaling Station and the tallest

lighthouse in the province at L’Anse Amour. Overnight in L’Anse au Clair (Breakfast & Midday Meal)

July 8: Return to Newfoundland. Explore the rugged coastline; visit The

Arches. Enjoy a traditional Newfoundland dinner.

Overnight in Rocky Harbour (Breakfast & Dinner)

Labrador

July 9: Boat tour across Bonne Bay to Woody Point. Spend time in

Gros Morne National Park UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Discovery

Centre and view the Tableland Mountains.

July 10: Travel east to Lewisport, “the gateway to the north”, and hear

stories of the 911 tragedy from those who welcomed the world into their homes.

July 11: Travel to Twillingate Island, one of Newfoundland’s oldest fishing

communities and where icebergs are often seen; then to Terra Nova National

Park. Overnight Port Blandford/Clarenville (Breakfast & Midday Meal)

St. John's Harbour

July 12: Visit the historic village of Trinity, one of the oldest communities in

North America; then Bonavista, the landfall of John Cabot in 1497.

Overnight Blandford/Clarenville (Breakfast & Midday Meal)

July 13: Travel to the Avalon Peninsula to the town of Bay Bulls; boat trip to

Witless Bay Ecological Reserve to watch for puffins and other seabirds. Visit Cape Spear National Historic

Park, the most easterly point of land in North America before heading into St John’s, the capital of

Newfoundland & Labrador. Overnight in St John’s (Breakfast & Midday Meal)

July 14: Morning tour of historic St John’s, Cabot Tower and Signal Hill; afternoon at leisure; Farewell

Dinner. Overnight in St John’s (Breakfast & Dinner). Option to add extra nights in St John’s

July 15: Return flights to Calgary and Comox; home drop off from the Comox Valley.

    Payment for tour - Deposit in the amount of $400.00 is due at the time of booking. Final Payment is due on May 3, 2018.

    Cancellation penalty on Land Tour: Deposit is non refundable. Name changes are permitted for a fee of $50 per person if you can find someone to take your place. Cancellation penalty from deposit date to May 3, 2018 is $400.00. From May 4 to 30 days prior to departure - 50% non refundable. From 30 days prior to travel date - 100% non-refundable.

    Payment for flight - WestJet non refundable deposit of $100.00 due at time of booking. Balance is due by May 3, 2018.

    Cancellation penalty on WestJet Ticket: Ticket is 100% non-refundable one week prior to departure.
