A modern links course that remains true to the traditional values of the early days of the game.

Just north of town, architect Kyle Phillips and the developers of Kingsbarns prove that, as noted by Scottish golf journalist, Malcolm Campbell, “it is possible to blend a modern links course that remains true to the traditional values of the early days of the game.” Campbell adds “Kingsbarns is now the standard against which all new links golf courses anywhere will be judged.” At every possible turn, this marvel amidst the dunes embraces the sea. Most memorable for me was the par-three fifteenth with a conniving contoured green jutting out into the ocean. As the course guide advises, “Tighten yer kilt laddie.”
