We invite you to join us on another European Biking adventure. We cycle between Amsterdam and Cologne along the Vecht, Ijssel and Rhine rivers. We have chartered the Comfort Deluxe “Sailing Home” barge. Cruising on a barge and cycling through the colorful countryside is an excellent way to see Holland and Germany with our barge meeting us at the end of each day

Not included in the price
Airfare, transfers between airport and hotels, pre and post trip hotels, incidentals and gratuities for staff. We recommend each participant give between 30 - 50 euros for all barge staff.
Note - There is an additional charge of 50 euros to provide Gluten free diets.
Sailing Home - Comfort Plus
Sailing Home is a Comfort Plus Class ship, built in 2001, and designed specifically as an attractive hotel ship for your carefree vacation.
Sailing Home has 2 stories, with the dining area, cozy bar and sun deck on the top level, and 13 spacious guest cabins downstairs. All cabins have twin beds, private bathroom with shower, air conditioning, hair dryers and daily maid service.
Providing excellent, personalized service is a high priority on this ship. You will be offered an extensive breakfast buffet, a packed lunch for your day of cycling, and a delicious 3 - course dinner.
Sailing Home uses the freshest of ingredients in all meals and provides a good selection of wines.
Additional Trip Information
Flights - Trip Participants are welcome to make their own flight arrangements or they can be done by Willy. Individuals may or may not return to Canada right after the tour. Based on the itinerary the arrival airport will be Amsterdam and the departure airport could be Frankfurt or Amsterdam. Willy can assist with transfers from the airport to the hotel.
Pre-trip Amsterdam stay - We recommend a 2, preferably a 3-night stay in Amsterdam before the cycling tour begins. This will allow our guests to get over jet lag and see the sights of Amsterdam. Willy van Kemenade will be staying at a centrally located hotel to show you around the city. A hotel has not yet been selected in Amsterdam.
Cost per night for the hotel will likely be between $200 and $250 CAD per night. Some of the popular sights in and around Amsterdam include:

- Royal Palace at Dam Square
- Van Gogh Museum
- Rijks museum
- Dutch Resistance Museum
- Dinner at an Indonesian restaurant featuring Rijsttafel
- Cheese Market in Alkmaar (by train)
Admissions, transportation, meal and other expenses will be paid by individuals doing the pre-trip stay.
All activities and attractions are optional.
Trip Rating - 1-2 - 1 - Mostly flat 2 - Flat with some gentle slopes 3 - Rolling, hilly terrain 4 - Some long and/or steep climbs 5 - Extensive climbing.
Trip participants should at least have basic cycling skills and be comfortable riding 30 - 40 km. per day. Helmets are required.
Day 1: Saturday, June 22, 2019: Amsterdam, embarking between 1:30 and 2:00 pm. From Amsterdam we sail to Nigtevecht and then to Breukelen. From Breukelen, we sail to Wijk bij Duurstede - 20 km
Day 2: Sunday, June 23, 2019: From Wijk bij Duurstede we sail to Wageningen where we visit Kroller-Moller Museum in the National Park De Hoge Veluwe. From here we cycle to Arnhem, - 30 km.
Day 3: Monday, June 24, 2019: Arnhem we cycle to the Canadian War Cemetery at Groesbeek before continuing to Nijmegen-50 km
Day 4: Tuesday, June 25, 2019: We depart Nijmegen, sailing to Pannerden and then cycling to Rees, 40 km.
Day 5: Wednesday, June 26, 2019: From Rees, we sail to Wesel and cycle to Ruhrort 40 km.
Day 6: Thursday, June 27, 2019: From Ruhrort, we cycle to Düsseldorf, - 42 km
Day 7: Friday, June 28, 2019: From Düsseldorf, we sail to Zons and cycle to Cologne Rheinau Sport - 30 km.
Day 8: Saturday, June 29, 2019: Departure day
Terms and Conditions
Payment - Non-refundable deposit of $400 due at time of booking. Payment by cash or cheque (payable to Square 1 Travel) or credit card (Visa & MasterCard only). Final payment is due by Feb 15, 2019. .
Cancellation Penalties - From booking date to February 15, 2019 - $400 non-refundable. From Feb 16, 2019 to departure date 100% non-refundable

Name changes are permitted for a fee of $100 per person plus any supplier fees, only if there is a waiting list.
Possible rate changes - Rates could change depending on exchange rate fluctuations between the Euro and Canadian Dollar. Current rate 1.53 CAD = 1 Euro. A supplement may be charged if fuel prices increase greater than of 5% of May 2018 prices.
